These garden secateurs have expertly designed handles for better grip and are ideal for pruning twigs and branches, with a curved blade that can cut branches up to 15mm in thickness. The slight angle between the handle and blade creates less strain on the wrist. The secateurs are handcrafted and forged in Sanjō, Niigata Prefecture, a region historically associated with blacksmithing, notably for creating sharp tools, such as knives and scissors.
The forging process starts by heating steel at a high temperature and then hammering it to cause the metallic structure within the metal to become finer and the bonds stronger. This creates strength and durability not found in press-formed items, yet has the flexibility to be manipulated into desired shapes.

Chūbu
The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
