The Kantō region is densely populated and home to a third of the country's population. It is centred around the nation's vibrant capital – Tokyo, formerly known as Edo, which has been the cultural, economic and political heart of Japan for centuries. Outside this megacity, there are mountains, onsen and ski resorts, magnificent temple complexes and excellent surfing opportunities within easy reach.
More itemsWASARA was founded in 2008, organised by Tanabe Michiyo and developed by Ogata Shinichiro’s design creativity. Their expertise and skill developed the biodegradable tableware products that would form the foundation of the brand. The name WASARA is formed of the Japanese words wa and sara. These translate as 'Japanese' and 'dish' respectively. When written, wa can also mean peace or harmony and sara can mean renewal. This careful choice of name reflects WASARA's strong awareness of the Japanese connection to the environment.
