A set of three Japanese candles, hand-crafted from haze tree wax using time-honoured methods.
Haze’s Japanese candles express landscapes, memories and states of mind through wax. Made entirely by hand, they use vegetable wax derived from the fruit of the haze tree (Japanese wax tree) and classic wicks crafted from washi paper, rush pith and cotton. Each candle is formed using the tegake technique, in which layers of melted wax are applied by hand. The plant-based wax produces less soot than petroleum-based alternatives.
The name Haze combines references to mist, the Japanese wax tree and an appreciation of transience.
For use with a pin-type candlestick designed for Japanese candles.
