Kendama - Hiroshima Like

Kendama are wooden toys that evolved from the cup-and-ball toy, consisting of a handle with multiple cups and a spike, all designed to catch the ball, which is attached to the handle with a length of string.

This line of kendama is inspired by the vibrant colours of Hiroshima where kendama manufacturer, Iwata Co., Ltd is based. Momiji Red captures the essence of the renowned Shinto shrine archway in Miyajima and the striking red hues of Japanese maple trees in autumn. Peace Green symbolizes the regrowth of greenery and represents Hiroshima’s enduring hopes for peace and renewal. Setouchi Blue reflects the calm blue waves of the Seto Inland Sea, a rich resource along the coastline of Hiroshima.

Developed with the sport of kendama in mind, many top players of the Kendama World Cup use kendama produced by Iwata Co., Ltd for its exceptional stability, grip and durability. The New Grip coating for the ball was developed to support a secure catch during the most challenging tricks, and also to provide durability, meaning less chipping or wear in comparison to other brands. One of the distinctive features of these kendama are the replaceable tips for when the spike wears out whilst playing, produced from a resin material that lasts three times longer than the average kendama. The ball is crafted from sakura wood, a hardwood that resists denting and delivers a satisfying sound when tricks land.
