The Man’yōshū is the oldest recorded collection of Japanese waka poetry, dating to between 600-759 AD. This English and Japanese language bilingual book contains a collection of some of the best poems from the Man’yōshū, each one presented in its original form and also translated into modern Japanese language as well as English. The poems are accompanied by photos as a “fusion of words and images, a double rendering of an archaic vision for the contemporary world.”
