Yanagi Sōri

Uniting the worlds of craft and industry, Yanagi Sōri (1915-2011), was a leading product and industrial designer, creating simple and beautiful items rooted in Japanese aesthetics. Trained at Tokyo University of the Arts, Yanagi is famed for designs such as his stainless-steel kitchenware, iconic ‘butterfly stool’ and the Olympic torch for the 1964 Games.
