A bamboo colander made in Niigata Prefecture for Matsunoya, a wholesaler specializing in everyday tools made from natural materials.
This bamboo colander is made from madake bamboo. It can be used to drain a small amount of vegetables or fruit, then serve directly to the table. As a woven basket, it allows air to circulate, helping warm foods release steam rather than becoming damp underneath.
When lined with a sheet of absorbent paper, it can also be used to serve fried foods while helping them remain relatively crisp. The baskets can be stacked for storage.
This item is sourced by Matsunoya, a Tokyo-based wholesaler specializing in aramono (miscellaneous daily-use goods), founded in 1945.
Not suitable for dishwasher and microwave.
Ensure it is fully dry before storing.
Size : 22 × 16 × 1cm
Chūbu
The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
