These sets of crayons are made up of colours extracted from 12 satellite photographs of different parts of the earth. The two collections, ‘Crayons of the Seas’ and ‘Crayons of the Mountains’ each offers a surprising spectrum of shades from the wide range of colours found in nature. The motivation for producing these sets is to share these vibrant colours, as seen from a satellite, to inspire greater interest in the planet. Each crayon is inscribed with the latitude and longitude of the image location, along with the timing of the photography to contextualize the colour within the location and season. There is also a QR code included on the packaging which, when scanned, offers further insight into each colour and its corresponding location.
The crayons are made from natural materials such as beeswax to ensure safety in case of ingestion.
