Inspired by the gradients of blue glaze in pottery produced by Shussaigama, a kiln in Shimane Prefecture, the denim tote is skilfully hand printed in Kyoto Prefecture.
The designs for the fashion and lifestyle brand Society of the Local Arts are influenced by the concept of mingei, the folk craft movement. Shussaigama is closely associated with mingei, as its establishment in 1947 was supported by one of the founders of the movement, Yanagi Sori, and was motivated by the ideals of William Morris.
This bag is crafted from cotton drill fabric sourced from Okayama Prefecture, and is the ideal size for a picnic, going to the gym or a short trip.
