Hasami Porcelain Sake Cup - Stone

For the past 400 years, traditions of porcelain making have been passed down in the small town of Hasami in Nagasaki Prefecture. Inspired by the natural shape of stones, this porcelain sake cup features a dual-textured surface. The inside of the cup is covered with a transparent glaze, producing a smooth surface while the outside is unglazed with a matte, rough texture and uneven surface to resemble stones found in nature.

Kyūshū and Okinawa

This is Japan’s south-west region including the island of Kyūshū and the sub-tropical island chain of Okinawa. Kyūshū was an early centre of Japanese civilization, and offers many historic treasures, modern cities and volcanic natural beauty. It is home to the ports of Kagoshima, Nagasaki and Fukuoka, the porcelain manufacturing centre in Arita and the Tanegashima Space Center launch site.
