This yoga mat is handmade of igusa (rush grass), a material which historically has been used for making tatami mats. Woven using igusa grown in Kyūshū – Japan’s southernmost main island – this yoga mat is highly moisture absorbent, and has a relaxing, fresh, herbal fragrance. Treatment with essential oils extracted from Aomori hiba wood – a species of cypress native to Japan – gives the mat enhanced antibacterial and deodorising properties. The underside of the mat is fitted with a non-slip TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) material, a safer, recyclable alternative to PVC. The edges are made with a mix of hemp and cotton.
Size: L185 cm x W66 cm
