Grace Koshu Private Reserve 2022 is a world-renowned wine from Grace Wine, a leading wine producer from Katsunuma, Yamanashi Prefecture, which focuses on kōshū, an indigenous white grape variety with a thousand-year history in Japan. Grown at an altitude of 400 metres, the grapes are given meticulous care, with each bunch covered by an individual umbrella to offer protection from the autumn rain and enable harvest when the crop is perfectly ripe. When the time comes, the grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand before undergoing a long but gentle pressing. Local expertise in the grape variety’s specific characteristics and knowledge of the district, allows the makers to create a wine that embodies their own sense of the Katsunuma region. It is described as dry, crisp, and light bodied, with an aromatic and delicate taste that features overtones of citrus fruits.
Best served chilled.
The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
