Kihon no Utsuwa (基本の器) translates to ‘basic utensils or vessels’, reflecting this brand’s commitment to simple tableware that fits any occasion from everyday use to a special dinner.
Produced in Tajimi City in the southeastern Tōno region of Gifu Prefecture, Kihon no Utsuwa is a brand that actively engages in sustainable manufacturing to avoid further depleting local resources. Kihon no Utsuwa uses a blend of different types of clay and soil for its products, using a blending technique developed in the Tōno region.
For their main range of products, the experts of Kihon no Utsuwa have further improved the technique with new technology in order to incorporate finely crushed ceramics as raw material into their tableware. This material is made by recycling and pulverizing discarded tableware and ceramics from households all over Japan which would otherwise often end up in landfill.
A combination of sustainable craftsmanship and contemporary design, this small sized vessel can be used both as a cup for drinks or as a bowl for appetizers, soups and desserts. Its small size and gentle curves make it easy to hold, while its subtle colours show off its contents. The small foot on its base also allows the cups to be stacked on top of each other for convenient storage.

Microwave and dishwasher safe.
Can be used in ovens up to 150°C.
