This ladle is one part of the kitchen utensil series designed by Yanagi Sōri, one of Japan’s most revered product designers of the post-war era. Commissioned by the Satō Shōji corporation, the series won the Good Design Award in 1998. The curve of the ladle fits the hand, facilitating a smooth serving experience when scooping from pots. This series of kitchenware is produced by Nihon Yōshokki in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, an area recognized for its high level of metal craftspersonship.
